Going Extra Extra Large with a Star Painting

Going Extra Extra Large with a Star Painting

My starburst canvases are some of the most popular paintings that I create. I normally paint them on my standard 160 cm x 112 cm canvases. However, if required I can paint a canvas up to 244 cm x 122 cm. I was recently asked to paint a yellow and orange star on one of these 244 cm x 122 cm canvases. It was enjoyable to paint on such a large scale and I was very happy with the completed painting. It's a painting that is sure to fill a room with sunshine and warmth! I'm currently considering trying to...

A Large Flower Meadow Painting to go with a Smaller Tree Painting!

A Large Flower Meadow Painting to go with a Smaller Tree Painting!

This customer bought a smaller tree canvas from me some time ago. She then recently bought a much larger flower meadow painting and has very kindly sent me some photos. You can see the tree painting in the background in one of the photos, through the doorway. We're currently in our second national Lockdown due to Covid-19. Hence my customer has said, "Family are all saying how wonderful the picture is so been taking close ups seeing as nobody can visit !!" You don't notice it at first but one of her dogs is also peeping out through a hole...

A Cost-Effective Way to Display my Canvas Paintings

A Cost-Effective Way to Display my Canvas Paintings

Today I was emailed two fantastic photos by a customer. One painting is a dot and spot abstract canvas and the other is an abstract drip painting with lots of blue. Most customers use a local picture framer to stretch my canvases on to wooden frames for them. A few decide to do the canvas stretching themselves. However, this customer has chosen not to stretch the canvases on to wooden frames at all. Instead, he has used readily available picture hanging stickers to fix the canvases directly to his walls. This is an approach that I have previously considered but...

New Cow Portrait Painting in Vertical Drip and Splash Style

New Cow Portrait Painting in Vertical Drip and Splash Style

This is an animal portrait painting I finished today. It's a cow looking towards the viewer, in a black and white style. Layers of colourful paint have then been applied on top - dripped, splashed and flicked on to the canvas. In paintings like these I like to suggest the form of the animal, without portraying it in more detail than is absolutely necessary. The vertical lines and dots and spots of colourful paint partly conceal the animal underneath. The viewer is then invited to use its own imagination as well. I'm hoping to start painting more animal portraits like...

Two New Commissioned Paintings in Custom Sizes

Two New Commissioned Paintings in Custom Sizes

I was very happy to recently paint these two canvases for my customer. She had asked for both canvases to be a little bit smaller than my 'standard' 160 x 112 cm size, and I was more than happy to do this. The first canvas was of a flower meadow painting with a path down the middle. The second canvas was of a tree surrounded by wild flowers. Both pictures feature vivid blue skies and this, in particular, helps to provide a common link between the two canvases.
