New Cow Portrait Painting in Vertical Drip and Splash Style

New Cow Portrait Painting in Vertical Drip and Splash Style

This is an animal portrait painting I finished today. It's a cow looking towards the viewer, in a black and white style. Layers of colourful paint have then been applied on top - dripped, splashed and flicked on to the canvas. In paintings like these I like to suggest the form of the animal, without portraying it in more detail than is absolutely necessary. The vertical lines and dots and spots of colourful paint partly conceal the animal underneath. The viewer is then invited to use its own imagination as well. I'm hoping to start painting more animal portraits like...

Two New Commissioned Paintings in Custom Sizes

Two New Commissioned Paintings in Custom Sizes

I was very happy to recently paint these two canvases for my customer. She had asked for both canvases to be a little bit smaller than my 'standard' 160 x 112 cm size, and I was more than happy to do this. The first canvas was of a flower meadow painting with a path down the middle. The second canvas was of a tree surrounded by wild flowers. Both pictures feature vivid blue skies and this, in particular, helps to provide a common link between the two canvases.

My Customer Makes His Own Steel Picture Frame

My Customer Makes His Own Steel Picture Frame

This customer owns a metal fabrication business. He's made his own frame surround for my black and white landscape painting out of weathered steel. They're getting an extension built at the moment where it will be hung on a 6m white wall but this is the painting's home for the moment. I think the frame is fabulous and its contemporary appearance works really well with this modern art painting! More details on how to stretch and frame my art can be seen here. I enjoy painting in this distinctive black and white style and hope to paint more canvases like...

A New Tree Painting with a Difference!

A New Tree Painting with a Difference!

I normally paint my trees on a white background but I decided to paint this tree within a landscape setting. The wild flowers in the foreground transition to a green grass meadow towards the horizon. Overhead there is a warm blue summer sky that fades to white on the horizon. I like to add little dots and spots of white paint over the blue sky to add contrast and movement. The tree itself is very colourful, with red, green and yellow featuring prominently in the leaf area. The trunk of the tree is also very colourful, with blue, purple, red...

3 New Customer Photos of an Original Wall Art Canvas

3 New Customer Photos of an Original Wall Art Canvas

It's always really appreciated when customers email me photos showing my artwork on display in their homes. Customer photos are an excellent way of seeing how the paintings look in real-life settings. Below are 3 photos of a painting I recently created. It's a black and white abstract flower meadow, with orange, cream, yellow and white flower heads. It looks like a fantastic backdrop for the canvas. From experience it seems like the wall space above a bed is often a great place to display one of my paintings. Another customer recently told me that using original canvas wall art...
