This was a commission I undertook for a friend in south London. He wanted a bright and colourful modern art painting for his open plan kitchen. Once stretched on to the wooden support frame this painting measured approximately 150 x 100 cm. In order to work with the colour scheme in the kitchen, my friend asked that I avoided using much red paint. I substituted red in the composition for additional orange, pink and black, as well as the many other colours that normally go in to a painting such as this.
Below are two other paintings I have done working to a similar design. Each painting I do has a different colour balance. The size of the canvas and its aspect ratio (the proportion of the length to the height of the canvas) are also important factors that help to determine the overall feel of the painting once it is completed.
